Where SEEDS stands today
SEEDS is a co-creative ecosystem with thousands of members, on a trajectory towards full decentralisation. This page is the plain inventory: what is running, what the launch years built, and what the community is building next.
At a glance
Running · the record · in development
Three columns, so you always know which chapter you are looking at.
What is alive today
Live infrastructure and living community rhythm.
- The chain and the token Seeds runs on the Telos blockchain, live since July 2019. The smart contracts have kept running through the whole hibernation.
- The SEEDS Light Wallet Open-source and publicly readable, along with the smart contracts, translations and supporting services, in the JoinSEEDS repositories.
- The collaboration with Semo Semo builds the everyday infrastructure for transparency and valuation at scale; SEEDS holds the compass. In public together since the community call of 1 July 2026, and paced so each step is real before the next is announced.
- The SEEDS Collaboratory DAO The body that has coordinated the ecosystem since governance moved out of the SEEDS Commons. It ratified Constitution 2.0 and holds the stewardship decisions.
- The Library, in full Every piece the movement has written — 151 essays, guides, films and field notes — lives here, and is open to new submissions.
- Places that take Seeds Hemptex and BetterFlags take Seeds for their flags, and the Regenerative Renaissance Gatherings take them for tickets and contributions. See where.
- The Regenerative Renaissance Gatherings A travelling series co-hosted by communities around the world, launched on the SEEDS × Semo community call of 1 July 2026 and running through the year.
- The community's rhythm A newsletter, quarterly community calls, a community marketplace, and a winter solstice gathering held every year since 2022.
- A way to fund the building in ordinary money Fiscal sponsorship for tax-deductible fiat donations, plus a commercial account — set up precisely because a movement cannot be funded on its own token alone.
What the launch years built
Designed, run and documented between 2017 and 2021. Kept in full, and drawn on for what comes next.
- The Harvest design The shared pool at the centre of the economics, designed in full and published. Opening it is the milestone the ecosystem is building toward.
- Campaigns and Alliances From February 2020, members voted real funds to real organisations — 500+ applications and 450+ partner organisations by 2021. The playbooks are in the archive.
- The token economics Supply, allocation and the Harvest mechanics as released. Any Seed valuation quoted anywhere describes a specific moment, and the figures in the archive carry their year.
- The numbers it reached 11,000+ wallet holders, 88 countries, 450+ partner organisations, 55+ funded projects — all as reported in 2021, and all dated in the archive.
- The Ambassador Academy The onboarding path that trained members to bring others in — tribes, buddies and full-moon calls. The whole design is in the archive.
What is being built next
Live building inside the ecosystem, in the order the community is taking it on.
- Reinstating the Passport Bringing back the governance app — decision-making, roles, proposals — as the main way members steer the ecosystem.
- Updating the wallet A refactor of the existing wallet, with a possible link to the Local Scale wallet, which shares its lineage.
- oSwaps between community currencies Using Seeds as a bridge currency between local and bioregional currencies. Demonstrated, not deployed at scale.
- What happens to legacy Seeds Several proposals are on the table for how holdings from before 2021 are carried forward. It is a member decision, and it is open.
- A paid team Funding people to hold infrastructure and governance, rather than relying indefinitely on unpaid goodwill.
The size of it
Small, steady, and still here
These are the most recent figures the ecosystem has recorded about itself. They are modest on purpose — showing the real number is more useful than showing the biggest one ever reached.
- ~4,000people receiving the newsletteras reported November 2025
- ~100attending quarterly community callsas reported November 2025
- ~20actively building the next chapteras reported November 2025
- 3State of SEEDS annual reports published2022, 2023, 2024
Thousands of former and current members follow what happens here. That is the ecosystem's real strength — and also its obligation, which is why this site avoids announcing things before they exist.
Direction of travel
On the way to full decentralisation — not there yet
SEEDS is co-creative by design. Its first constitution was written by members across five open assemblies, and a second version was ratified during the hibernation years. A third is currently being drafted, and it is the sharpest statement of the intent so far.
That draft asks everyone holding curation access to develop decentralised, collective governance — and then to drop all rights to make changes to SEEDS as soon as that is fulfilled. Decentralisation written in as an obligation with an end state, rather than as a marketing word.
The ecosystem is on that road now, with a committed core holding practical stewardship and widening the circle as the tools come back. A trajectory, deliberately walked.
- Every verified human has the right to one account and one vote
- Constitutional change requires a vote of the account holders
- Anyone with curation access can be outvoted out of it
- Voting rights stay unrelated to how much capital anyone puts in
Constitution V 1.0 (July 2021) is published in the archive; version 2.0 was ratified during the hibernation years; the four principles above are the language of the third version, currently in draft.
Where to go next
Three doors from here
Whichever chapter of the story you came for, there is somewhere to carry on.
- Spend Seeds. Hemptex, BetterFlags and the Regenerative Renaissance Gatherings all take Seeds alongside ordinary money. The Light Wallet is free on iOS and Android.
- Read the journey. Nine years in four seasons, from the first idea in 2017 to the era unfolding now.
- Take part. Six concrete ways in, from following the newsletter to writing code on the open-source stack.
